Reads an entire line (up to, but not including, the newline character) from a TextStream file and returns the resulting string.
object.ReadLine( )
The object argument is always the name of a TextStream object.
The following example illustrates the use of the Line property:
[JScript]
function GetLine()
{
var fso, f, r;
var ForReading = 1, ForWriting = 2;
fso = new ActiveXObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject");
f = fso.OpenTextFile("c:\\testfile.txt", ForWriting, true);
f.WriteLine("Hello world!");
f.WriteLine("JScript is fun");
f.Close();
f = fso.OpenTextFile("c:\\testfile.txt", ForReading);
r = f.ReadLine();
return(r);
}
[VBScript]
Function ReadLineTextFile
Const ForReading = 1, ForWriting = 2
Dim fso, MyFile
Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
Set MyFile = fso.OpenTextFile("c:\testfile.txt", ForWriting, True)
MyFile.WriteLine "Hello world!"
MyFile.WriteLine "The quick brown fox"
MyFile.Close
Set MyFile = fso.OpenTextFile("c:\testfile.txt", ForReading)
ReadLineTextFile = MyFile.ReadLine
' Returns "Hello world!"
End Function
